Calluses on Feet – A Cure by Stephanie Tanner
Portions of the skin that seem thicker may be calluses. This is the body’s response to friction or pressure on the skin. There are different reasons for friction in the skin to occur and this may vary from person to person. Nonetheless, the common reasons for calluses on feet are feet abnormality, misalignment of bone(s), wearing of tight shoes, and a job that makes you stand for a very long time, etc.
There are people who are more prone to calluses on feet than other people. These include women who wear tight high-heeled shoes, a person with flat feet, patients of arthritis, etc. But, it is still prevalent for other people in various ways nevertheless. Calluses on feet may seem harmless but negligence may give you problems.
If possible, you can prevent having calluses on feet by wearing comfortable shoes. It is very crucial to use cloths which do not block air flow. You could also relax your feet after a busy schedule. It would be best to soak your feet in warm water for 20 minutes to assuage the symptoms of calluses. After cleansing and when the skin is soft, rub the problematic areas with pumice stone or smooth sand paper. Usually, these parts are the base of toes, heels, or the sides of little toes. This scrubbing helps exfoliate the skin. Because of this, the formation of calluses would not take place.
Callus removal is difficult. Do not use “miracle medicines” sold over-the-counter because they may contain dangerous substances. Serious harm to you and your skin may happen if you decide to use these drugs without proper recommendation from a reliable podiatrist. It would be best to ask for professional advice regarding removal of calluses on feet.
